REALLY?!?

Had I known my last post was going to be frozen in time for nearly 3 years, I can guarantee it would not have been an ode to cherry juice. I would have called a last minute audible. Possibly delve into my cross country trek to score happy hour oysters in Seattle. Or tell you about that time I went to Portland and left Voodoo Donutless. Or recount the summer of Momofuku Milk Bar red velvet/cream cheese frosting soft serve. But no. Instead I decided to opine about cherry juice. Cherry juice?!?!? Really? Cherry juice?? Damn dude. No disrespect to the burgundy super fruit, but I'm better than that. This is Howfresh EATS cotdamnit, not DRINKS.

The gluttony. The meals. The snacks. The epicurean adventures. And don't forget the potato chips. Endless amounts of food capable of removing hunger from 3rd world countries. Bites documented from all angles. But none of that was shared. None. I was selfish. I hit the light switch and left the room. The masses had to walk and eat in darkness. I won't even talk about the customized H caps aka the buttahs, or the weekly vinyl nights I never invited you to.

H hat in hand, fresh off the plane from NOLA with funkaaaay MATERIAL for days, please accept my apologies. I come with a truckload of them LED bulbs, lasting longer than those phased out incandescent joints. The HFE marquee will not dim again.

3, is the Magic Number!

Bob Dorough- Three is the Magic Number

Happy Birthday to me (HowfreshEats) and me (Howfresh)!!! 3 years since I stepped on the scene. Originally a gift that was meant to keep giving, but writing's become more a chore than the fun, creative outlet it's supposed to be. We've been slow motion for the past year or so, only 17 posts thus far. A tad more frequent than that female friend. Don't fret- engine's revved, foot's on gas, optimism for numero cuatro. I do appreciate the few readers that have stuck around- those stubborn mufuers.

De La Soul- Magic Number

This the type of soiree we're talking about. That photo is more of a reenactment but you get the picture. Less pigs at my party. I'm in to more stand-up broads. Peep the cake though. We had the sparklers sparkling. I see my man Puerto Rico in the corner. What up playboy!!

Then shit got crazy. I really have no explanation other than shorty wanted cake on her bum! I ain't eating off it though. Don't really know her too well. Kind of pissed cause the artwork and frosting was PROPERS. She was expeditiously removed from the venue. We're too highbrow for these sort of shenanigans. And her boobie's looking all sorts of retarded, tampered with steez. We only deal with Mensa itties!!

Oh Shit! I knew I forgot something!

My blog.

Here's hoping it doesn't happen again.

I'm glad I was able to have Dennis Franz portray the melon slapper. NYPD Blue was my shit.

The Summer of HowFresh.

Where the fuck have I been? All over the place and about to cover more ground. I know the posts have been sparse, and that's being very generous. Absent is more like it. I'm not giving up- just having an incredible summer and trying to enjoy every minute of it. Yeah- maybe my priorities haven't been in the proper order, but guilt was so 2008 so I'm not trying to lament my dormancy. I am fully aware of it though, and it's bothersome. The intentions are there- for real for real, but apparently the actions haven't been. The engine is revving hardbody, but the car is in park.

So I'm about to drive cross country and see some shit. Some major shit. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. 5 days to travel to Seattle from Pittsburgh. I still consider that x-country. Who wants to see 6 hours of boring Pennsylvania anyway. Dem Durty and Howfresh, the super Chucktown DJ crew circa '03 will be hitting the Interstates. I know for a fact I'm catching PNC Ballfield to see some Pirates v Phils and hopefully the Bucs will put it on the soon to be former World Champs. Howfresh will most definitely eat PNC. I'd like to thank Jet Blue for having some shitty routes, thus causing me to procrastinate on purchasing their all-you-can travel ticket for $600 between Sept. 8 and Oct. 8. They got me thinking and then the Holy One Blessed Be He looked out for the kid with this magic carpet taking off from Steel City.

I never imagined I'd be in Seattle anytime in my life and now I'll be there twice in less than a 3 month period. Must be the bivalves- true story. Portland to follow and the grand finale being San Fran. Word is born, oops- Bahn, I will be having some fucking fun. De La in Portland, AT&T Ballfield, Safeco, Yellowstone, you already know. Who knows, while in Oregon I might just hit up Beaverton and get that swank Nike job I've always desired. Or at least get in the employee store and go ape shit.

And I finally got my camera back. It broke the night of the Peter Rosenberg x Raekwon Noisemakers event and life hasn't been the same since. I love the camera, but Canon needs to re haul their customer service. Now that my baby is back in my arms I can breathe (and post again).

Yeah- I found the Mighty H joints. Frank's Chop Shop had them hiding, but I can sense an H from miles away. There's a very special H in the pipeline. And now F hats are on the hitlist. Peep the buttahs above. Like I need another fucking excuse to melt my cheddar.

Here are some videos I took over the past 2 months. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera for the Ghost/Meth/Red show- one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Also missed out on filming the Kane at Prospect Park and Rakim at Highline. At least I had an extra hand to double fist.

Slick Rick- Mona Lisa @ East River Park NYC 7/23/09

Raekwon- Wu Gambinos @ Noisemakers with Peter Rosenberg 7/29/09

Jadakiss- Made You Look @ Sneakerpimps NYC 6/27/09

Clipse- Grindin' @ Sneakerpimps NYC 6/27/09

H is for Happy Anniversary, Birthday, Hanukah- The H of H's Post.

I woke up at 11 on my born day, I'm 32, it's a blessing, press power, log on, hit refresh, peep Howfresh and...

There are 25 H hats in the photo. Rather than assign a meaning to each cap, I'll let you play with the "H is for..." template.

A year ago today this blog was created as a birthday gift from the ex-lady. At least the yearly milestones will always be easy to remember. At times it's bittersweet that we can't share this together, however her other gift-the naughty Santa's helper pics- help ease the pain. Maybe I'll do a post about those one day, but for now we keep it cool and celebrate the born day.

In the past 365 day cycle 152 posts have been thought of, planned and executed. I take a lot of pride in every post and make sure the Board of HowfreshEats approves of the content and quality. Once that starts to slip, you're toast. Hopefully in early '09 the blogspot will be removed and we will be completely independent. Viva la revolucion!!! HowfreshEats.com just flows better. Then I can make t shirts and be that really annoying self-promoting jerk. $15 a pop peoples. And I'll make sure they match the newest kicks. I think a sticker campaign might be in order, bring back the late 90's street teams and elude the jake.

152 posts in one year doggie, I can divide, 10 were poop, the others were buttahrific, that's one dope post every 2.6 days average ... and that's not LAAAAAAMMEEEEE!!!... I've been in it one, still having fun, so smarten up dun!!!

I'm definitely enjoying talking my shit, and hopefully that is being conveyed to you, the viewer. I was told that a recent post was too stiff and PC. I apologize for that. The last thing I want to do is conform to the norm and start that cookie cutter shit. Just keep it loosey goosey baby and let the fish fry. If I have to throw in an additional fuck or shit, I have them on standby.

There are probably close to 30 started posts that never caught the light of day due to my procrastination or something to that effect. Most of those being restaurant reviews and concerts that I dropped the ball on. I'll need to rehash some of them and let them shine. Hopefully I remember how the food tasted- if not "It was good" or "I like it" will have to do. In terms of concerts, if you don't address it a day or 2 after the show it's old news and every other blog has posted video or commented in some capacity. Another Nas show, Kane's 20th anniv., Rakim, Menahan Street Band, and more. Those are some of my regrets. On some honest shit, I have new post ideas and visions all day, but a computer isn't readily available to make it happen. But even when I'm at the command center I still find myself bullshitting and getting caught in the web of fear of wackness. When days go by and the blog turns stale, unless I'm chilling with the buffalo in G-d's Country, chances are I'm blogger blocked. Let 2009 bring clarity to the world of HowfreshEats.

And don't get it twisted. While I might not have posted a Letter H fitted post in 2 and a half months, do not think I haven't been on my H-ustle. There are several new goodies in the images.

Long Live the H.

USA Today Loves HowfreshEats. Sort of.

Well, one of their readers does. Apparently this Dawson's Creek look-a-like thinks the blog is the bee's knees.

Kidding aside, my sort of hippy/kind of truck jewelry rocking/without a doubt messiah of PR friend was featured as the daily reader in USA Today's Pop Candy and he spread the gospel on the site we all know and love, minus the we all know and love. We're working on that.

Check it out HERE and HERE and HERE. And if you missed those, HERE too.

So to all my USA Today friends, welcome. Please come inside, take off your shoes, make yourself comfortable and enjoy.
